SUMMARY:Join the 2023 Student Unmanned Systems EELISA Competition!
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered how can unmanned vehicles like drones can be used to solve real-life problems?  The EELISA Flight Tests and Experimental Models Community is commited to the developement and dissemination of knowledge about Unmanned Aerial Systems and its integration within modern cities’ advanced technology services. Under this purpose, EELISA FTEM Community is organising the 2023 Student Unmanned Systems EELISA Competition! \nThis engaging event is dedicated to advancing the field of Unmanned Vehicle Systems (UVS), with a particular focus on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), as well as other types of UVS such as Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) and Unmanned Sea Vessels (USV). By fostering interest and encouraging students’ exploration of UVS technologies, this competition aims to contribute to their educational journey and future careers.\nThe main goal of this competition is to challenge students to design, integrate, report on, and demonstrate a UVS capable of autonomous movement and navigation, remote sensing via onboard payload sensors, sensor fusion, and execution of a specific set of tasks. Teams from international universities and colleges interested in advancing the field of unmanned and electrical drone technologies, especially from EELISA partners, are invited to take part in this exciting competition.\n \nHow does it work?\nThe competition is open to teams of students from universities and colleges around the world, especially from EELISA partners, who are interested in advancing the field of unmanned and electrical drone technologies. There will be two phases: the Technical Design and Flight Readiness Review Presentation, where students will learn how to develop and program drones to complete tasks autonomously. Teams will have to produce a YouTube video explaining their teams work, including UVS design and the team’s testing and preparedness.\nThe second phase, Mission Demonstration, entails an in-person challenge event where students will have to complete a the demonstration simulating a mission in which the UVS and team are evaluated. Their veichle will have to complete autonomous tasks such as obstacle avoidance, object detection, and drone delivery.\nAfter the competition, there will be an award ceremony to give recognition of the winning teams.\n \n2023 Mission\nOne of the distinguishing aspects of this competition is its focus on real-world applicability. For instance, the earthquake disaster in Turkey and Syria, a devastating natural disaster, is an example of the applicability and relevance of this type of technologies, making the challenge relevant globally.\n\nMore information\nCheck out the rules to learn more about this activity and the contest schedule.\nMission demonstrations will take place near Bucharest from September 25th to 28th 2023, but Several webinars will be held until 15th September to help teams to speed-up development as activities within Flight Test and Experimental Models Community.\nTeams must be composed of undergrtaduate (bachelor degree) students, but 1 graduate (master, PhD) is allowed per team.\nLearn more about EELISA FTEM Community here.\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n \nREGISTRATION DEADLINE\nJuly 1st\n \nWHEN\nFrom the 25th to the 28th of September 2023\n \nWHERE\nOnline via zoom and onsite at UPB\n\n\n\n\n
