SUMMARY:Green BIM: Optimizing Carbon Footprints with BIM and LCA
DESCRIPTION:Step into the forefront of sustainable architecture with Green BIM: Optimizing Carbon Footprints with BIM and LCA, a dynamic challenge that empowers architecture students to solve real-world environmental challenges using advanced technology.\nThis competition invites participants to design innovative, sustainable building models that seamlessly merge Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies. The goal? To create structures that excel in functionality, aesthetics, and environmental stewardship while significantly reducing carbon footprints.\nArmed with BIM tools, students will craft detailed designs and apply LCA to assess the environmental impact of materials, energy consumption, and construction methods throughout their building’s lifecycle. They’ll explore creative strategies like substituting eco-friendly materials, optimizing structural designs, and implementing energy-saving techniques—all in a race to design the most sustainable solution.\nBeyond the technical aspects, the challenge fosters creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking as participants present their visionary projects to a panel of experts. This immersive experience bridges the gap between theory and practice, offering students the chance to tackle pressing sustainability issues, gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools, and refine their skills in sustainable design and environmental analysis.\n \nRegistation\nIf you are an UPM student, please write to federicoluis.delblanco@upm.es to join the activity.\nWHEN\nFrom 8 of January to 15 of May, 2024\n \nWHERE\nOnsite at UPM\n
