SUMMARY:Remote Sensing and GIS application: Land use change mapping in the Dja river reserve, Cameroon
DESCRIPTION:Cartography is essential as a starting point to guide the actions of local agents and NGOs in cooperation projects, as well as for the integration of international efforts. GIS and remote sensing technologies have become powerful tools for determining land use changes, especially in remote and vast areas. With this this workshop series, the aim is to obtain land use change maps to support international cooperation projects using GIS and remote sensing techniques in Africa.\nTo carry it out, participants will work as a team during 3 synchronous sessions in person for UPM members or online for EELISA partners. The proposed schedule and program are:\n\nEnvironment and Work of the NGO Sogolo in Zambia.\nBasic Concepts of Remote Sensing and GIS and Their Applicability in International Cooperation Projects.\nSocial and Health Issues in the Southern Region of Cameroon.\nLand Use Change Mapping (Flooding, Deforestation, Industrial Plantations…) in the Dja Reserve, Cameroon.\nPresentation of Conclusions and Completed Work\n\n \nMore information\nPlease contact mariajesus.garcia.garcia@upm.es\n \n \nWHEN\n22 to 24 of April, 2025. From 4 to 8 PM (CEST)\n \nWHERE\nOnsite at ETSI Montes, Forestal y del Medio Natural. Edif.Forestales. Aula de Proyectos.\nOnline for EELISA students outside Madrid.\n \nREGISTER HERE\n \n \nThis activity is hosted by the UPM research group GEO2, and  organized in collaboration with EELISA Communites EELISA Water & EELISA Green Planet. Find out more about their activities in the EELISA Community Platform.\n
