SUMMARY:Discover how to use AI for Translation & Interpreting with this workshop
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The AI for T/I (Artificial Intelligence for Translation and Interpreting) is a two-day workshop focusing on the role of artificial intelligence in multilingual communication, particularly in the fields of translation and interpreting. It features lectures, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, including a ‘hackathon workshop’ where students will present their work in pitch presentations.\nThe event aims to foster cross-disciplinary exchange among students, academic professionals, and non-academic experts from diverse fields such as computer science and engineering, business management, and language mediation/multilingual communication.\n \nStudent participation\nStudents participating in person will engage in a challenge-based activity comprising three tasks:\n– Task 1 – Preparation: Conduct research (literature or market surveys) on AI in multilingual corporate communication and summarize findings through relevant documents or interviews.\n– Task 2 – Simulation: Develop arguments for and against human involvement in AI-assisted multilingual communication and present them as a pitch to company executives during the Hackathon Workshop.\n– Task 3 – Follow-up Report: Submit a group report to the AI for T/I open-access portal, summarizing the conference outcomes.\nStudents who complete all three tasks in person will receive 2 ECTS credits and EELISA credentials aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Online students,  and who therefore complete fewer than three tasks, will be awarded EELISA credentials corresponding to the relevant SDG.\n \nProfessional Participation and Credentials\n – Academic professionals attending online or in person can contribute to Task 3 by developing and/or testing teaching materials and will receive EELISA credentials aligned with the appropriate SDGs. Those who attend the conference in person or online and complete tasks (developing and/or testing teaching materials) will be awarded EELISA credentials for the relevant SDG.\n – Non-academic professionals participating in the event may also be eligible for EELISA credentials based on their engagement.\n \n \nWHEN\nOctober 2nd & 3rd\n \nWHERE\nOnsite at BME\nOnline participation is available.
