Edoardo Bonura

Edoardo is a 3rd year Bachelor student in Electronics Engineering at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa. He is student representative for the EELISA Student Council and the EELISA Executive Board,

I think that, just as something innovative yesterday could not be such tomorrow, what we think will surely rise to be innovative in the distant future can still be turned into progress today: innovations surely need to take into account present problems, but a great deal of pure imagination and abstract desire to take our society somewhere specific in the future is needed. The EELISA values are a perfect example of what I mean.

Participant at the following EELISA Events:

  • 1st EELISA International Conference (October 2023, Bucharest) as a speaker in the parallel session “Crossed perspectives on the challenges of intra-alliance recognition: extra-curricular activities, academic mobility and joint degrees”.
  • Head of Commercial at JEBE Business Game, organized with EELISA as one of the initiative’s partners.

Innovation in Action: Edoardo at the JEBE Business Games

Q. At which EELISA event have you already participated? What is your connection to innovation? If possible a short quote about the event.

A. I have been a student representative in the EELISA Student Council and in the EELISA Executive Board, but I have also taken part in the 1st EELISA International Conference (October 2023, Bucharest) as a speaker in the parallel session “Crossed perspectives on the challenges of intra-alliance recognition: extra-curricular activities, academic mobility and joint degrees”. Moreover, I have tried to bring forth an innovative approach of defining relations between students and the corporate world, during my work as Head of Commercial at my university’s junior enterprise JEBE.

Our Business Game, organized with EELISA as one of the partners, aimed to be a balanced confrontation between young minds and modern business issues.

Q. What is your purpose that motivates you to become an #EEnovator?

A. Mainly, as an engineering student, finding social needs and converting them into technological solutions. As an #EEnovator, though, I’m also driven by the desire to bridge the gap between students and the corporate world, fostering meaningful collaborations. Through EELISA, Ive had the chance to advocate for student perspectives and to reshape how we approach innovation, mobility, and academic recognition.

Q. What is innovation for you?

A. We tend to view progress as a pre-traced line, a path guided by inevitable discoveries. In other words, advancements would be lying among us, waiting to be awakened by so-called innovators, but anyways bound to arise in something like a 20-year time span. I don’t think so.

Q. What have you learned on your innovation journey so far?

A. I’ve learned that innovation is not a linear process of inevitable discoveries — it thrives on imagination and the courage to address present challenges while envisioning a better future. I have learned that progress is something we create, not something we wait for (and I also had the chance of making some long lasting friends and memories along this journey).

Q. What do you wish for the innovation Ecosystem of the future?

A. I hope for an innovation ecosystem that values creativity as much as practicality — one where ideas arent limited by immediate feasibility but inspired by a vision for a better society. EELISA embodies this spirit.
