Preserving the old, looking to the future – International Library Staff Week at FAU
What are the challenges a Library faces when preserving historic documents? How can they adapt to future challenges? The University Library of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is a comprehensive academic library system supporting all faculties, while also serving as a regional library. During the Staff Week, participants will gain insight into its wide range of services, with a particular focus on digital research support.
Key topics include research data management, Open Access publishing, and the implementation of Open Science practices, an area in which FAU is a national pioneer. Participants will learn how the library supports researchers throughout the full data lifecycle, from project planning to long-term archiving, and how it facilitates transparent and accessible research.
The programme will also introduce the structure and functioning of FAU’s multi-site library system, as well as highlight unique special collections, offering a broader perspective on how academic libraries contribute to research, teaching, and cultural heritage.
