Divya Mittal

EELISA Student Ambassador / Master Student of International Information Systems  at FAU.

“My idea of innovation is about creating simple, sustainable solutions that make everyday life better — for people and the planet. It’s not about complexity, but about meaningful impact through purpose-driven ideas.”

Participant at the following EELISA Events:
Female Founders Festival, September 2024

“The Female Founder Festival was a truly unique experience — not just about listening to inspiring speakers, but also engaging in hands-on workshops and learning from each other. It was a three-day event in Nuremberg, organized by FAU. One of my favorite sessions was with Caroline Durst, who shared great insights on how to optimize our LinkedIn profiles and encouraged us to show up more actively on the platform.”

Innovation in Action: Divya at the Female Founders Festival (2014)

Q. What is your purpose that motivates you to be an #EEnovator?

A. What motivates me to be an #EEnovator is my passion for solving real-life problems through sustainable and meaningful innovation. Coming from a background of running a small business in India to joining programs like the Digital Tech Academy, EIH, and the Global Entrepreneurship Program in Munich, I’ve seen how powerful simple ideas can be when they’re backed by purpose. Through EELISA, especially events like the Female Founder Festival, I’ve found a community that shares my values — collaboration, inclusion, and impact. That’s what drives me: building solutions that truly improve lives while caring for the planet

A. What is innovation for you?

Q. Innovation, to me, is about creating value where it truly matters — by improving lives and solving real challenges in a sustainable way. It can be something as simple as rethinking over-packaging in the EU or developing better waste management systems in countries like India. These ideas may seem small, but they create real, positive change. That’s what innovation is about — turning awareness into action that makes a difference

A. What have you learned on your innovation journey so far?

Q. One of the biggest things I’ve learned on my innovation journey is the importance of resilience. Not every idea works out right away — and that’s okay. I’ve also realized that innovation doesn’t have to be complex to be powerful. Sometimes the simplest ideas create the biggest impact. And above all, believing in yourself is key — because if you don’t, no one else will.

Q. What do you wish for the Innovation Ecosystem of the future?

A. I wish for an innovation ecosystem that’s inclusive, collaborative, and truly global — where ideas from all backgrounds are valued equally. For example, imagine a startup from rural India working with a sustainability hub in Germany to co-create low-cost waste management solutions. That’s the kind of cross-border, purpose-driven collaboration I hope becomes the norm — where innovation is not just about tech, but about solving real problems for real people.
