EEDays: EELISA Visit to LIGNUM TECH’s production centers in Cuenca
On November 14, 2024, from 11:00 to 13:00, EELISA Community From Industrialized Construction to Near-Zero Consumption Buildings (INCO-0) is organizing a unique visit to LIGNUM TECH’s production centers in Cuenca.
This event is open to 30 students from the Bachelor’s in Building Engineering, the Double Degree in Building Engineering and Business Administration, and Master’s programs such as MITE, MAGE, and MEJORR. Coordinated by Dr. Alejandra Vidales Barriguete, the visit aims to provide students with direct insight into industrialized construction systems, including prefabricated facades, bathrooms, cantilevers, and staircases.
The visit will align with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as promoting industry innovation (SDG 9), fostering sustainable cities (SDG 11), encouraging responsible production and consumption (SDG 12), advancing climate action (SDG 13), and supporting affordable and clean energy (SDG 7).
Students will explore how industrialized construction can significantly reduce raw material waste, water and energy consumption, and environmental impact compared to traditional construction methods. This activity is designed to deepen students’ understanding of the benefits of industrialized building methods in creating sustainable, nearly zero-energy structures. Beyond technical learning, the visit aims to inspire future professionals to incorporate responsible and resource-efficient practices in their careers within the construction industry.
