EELISA Days at UPM! II Blind Football and Inclusive University Tournament
On the occasion of the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), which is held on 3rd December each year, the EELISA community Tech Diplomacy, in collaboration with the UPM Accessibility and Disability Care Unit (UAD), Integra CEE and the Madrid Blind Football Team, will launch the II Blind Football International and Inclusive University Tournament on 29th November at the UPM South Campus Sports Centre.
Football 5-a-side, more commonly known as blind football or blind soccer, is a variation of football designed for players who are blind or visually impaired. In Europe, blind football was developed in Spain. This activity will include an exhibition by the Madrid Blind Football team and the goalkeeper of the Spain Blind Football team, Alberto García Ibáñez, will conduct a brief training session.
How to participate?
To participate you must be members (faculty, staff, or students*) of the EELISA Alliance. *Students may apply for the EELISA credential and 1 ECTS will be recognised. You can register individually or as a team in this link (until 8th November).
The teams will consist of 6 people: 1 goalkeeper, 4 players –who will be blindfolded (material provided by the organization) – and 1 guide who will give instructions from the side of the pitch.

Visit to Accessible Digital Home In addition to the Blind Football Tournament, an informative visit to UPM’s Accessible Digital Home, located at ETSIST, has been organized with the objective of raising awareness about the importance of accessible homes. Participants will have the
opportunity to learn and explore ICT solutions that facilitate personal autonomy in the home environment through user-centered design and technology.
