Join us in shaping the future with GreenMeta City, a Sustainable City Design challenge
Funded by the 4th EELISA Joint Call, this exciting challenge invites students of all levels to collaborate in designing the cities of tomorrow. Over three days, four interdisciplinary teams will come together to create a small-scale sustainable city that seamlessly integrates digital and physical elements. Each team will focus on key areas: sustainable models, real-time data integration, metaverse development, and green urban planning strategies. Participants will also hear from expert guest speakers sharing insights into sustainability, technology, and urban innovation. This hackathon is centered around creating a comprehensive, interactive representation of a sustainable city, both digitally and physically. Four interdisciplinary teams will work collaboratively to address different aspects of the city’s design and integration into the metaverse:
– Sustainable City Construction: Design a physical city model using Arduino IoT technology and build a solar energy management system that reflects real-world interdependencies.
– Sensor Data Integration & Cloud Services: Develop an IoT network using sensors to collect real-time data and securely transmit it to a cloud platform via MQTT.
– Metaverse Development: Create an immersive 3D representation of the city in Unity, utilizing assets to bring the sustainable model to life in the virtual realm.
– Strategy & Concept Development: Act as policymakers by creating a strategic plan for a metaverse city, addressing green urban planning, carbon footprint management, and scenario testing.
– The ultimate goal? To produce an integrated city model showcasing the dependencies between urban systems, while addressing challenges like energy shortages. This visionary project will serve as a template for future urban innovation.
