
Protecting art in a context of armed conflict
How do we protect the past when the present is at war? The EELISA Seasonal School PEACE invites participants to confront this complex question, immersing them in the pressing global issue of cultural heritage under threat.
Learning objectives
This two-day immersive experiencewill provide participants with an overview of the legal framework governing the protection of cultural heritage in situations of armed conflict and emergency, as well as with a thorough analysis of the international relations’ perspective, combining history, archaeology, religion and gender studies.
Teaching methodologies
Students will find an interactive and cross-disciplinary learning environment that will combine frontal lectures with the analysis of case studies (Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Mali, Sudan, Ukraine). Participants will be required to actively participate in the group discussions, in-class activities and exercises that will be proposed in the course of the seasonal school.
