
Project Intelligence Lab: AI for Smarter Project Decisions
Project Intelligence Lab: AI for Smarter Project Decisions is an advanced EELISA Seasonal School designed to bring together academics, researchers, graduate students, project managers, project leaders, PMO professionals, engineers, architects, IT specialists, R&D leaders, and other professionals involved in project-based work.
The programme offers an intensive, practice-oriented learning environment for participants who already have a basic understanding of project management and want to explore how data and artificial intelligence can support decision-making throughout the project life cycle.
Rather than approaching artificial intelligence as an autonomous decision-maker, the Seasonal School adopts a human-supervised approach. AI-supported tools are used to generate alternatives, analyse project data, identify patterns, and support evaluation, while participants remain responsible for questioning assumptions, interpreting results, and making final decisions.
The programme combines project management foundations, data and artificial intelligence concepts, applied project management modules, micro AI Agent Labs, interdisciplinary teamwork, and an integrated project studio.
The Seasonal School focuses on seven interconnected areas:
– Foundations of project management and the project life cycle.
– Fundamentals of data science and artificial intelligence.
– Project framing, governance, stakeholder, and communication management.
– Project scope, time, and cost management.
– Project risk and quality management.
– Project integration management.
– AI Agent Lab and integrated project studio.
Throughout the programme, participants will work with sample project data and develop practical, auditable AI-supported outputs. These outputs will be consolidated into an integrated AI Agent Portfolio and a project dashboard that connects different project management knowledge areas.
The Project Intelligence Lab aims to:
– Strengthen participants’ understanding of project management concepts, project roles, organisational contexts, and decision-making responsibilities.
– Develop participants’ ability to assess the potential and limitations of data and artificial intelligence in project -management.
– Support the responsible use of AI as a decision-support mechanism rather than an autonomous decision–maker.
– Enable participants to frame projects according to value, context, governance principles, and stakeholder expectations.
– Improve participants’ ability to analyse project assumptions, constraints, and trade-offs affecting scope, schedule, cost, resources, and performance.
– Demonstrate how AI-supported tools can contribute to risk identification, prioritisation, monitoring, quality management, and project control.
– Support integrated decision-making across different project management knowledge areas.
– Enable participants to develop and present a structured AI-supported project portfolio.
– Promote critical reflection on assumptions, bias, uncertainty, traceability, confidentiality, and accountability in -AI-supported project environments.
The programme follows three central teaching principles:
– Human in the loop: AI proposes, analyses, and compares; participants approve, justify, and remain accountable.
– Value and context orientation: Project management is addressed as a value-creation practice shaped by the specific needs and conditions of each project.
– Critical and responsible AI: AI-generated outputs are evaluated in relation to assumptions, bias, uncertainty, traceability, confidentiality, and fitness for use.
The core programme will take place from 14 to 18 September 2026 at the ITU Cyprus Campus in a hybrid format. An online information session will be held on 11 September 2026, followed by an online presentation, evaluation, and closing session on 24 September 2026.
The programme is delivered in English and corresponds to 33 learning hours and 3 ECTS.
Participants who fulfil the attendance and programme requirements will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the ITU Continuing Education Center.
