EELISA Days! Circular EELISA Zero Hunger Workshop
ZERO HUNGER – Why waste Food? is a gamification activity organized in the framework of the Madrid Science and Innovation Week 2023, which is an annual event for scientific dissemination and citizen participation organized by the Madrid+D Foundation for Knowledge that offers the public the opportunity to learn up close about the work carried out by scientists, their research, motivations, and efforts. It allows society to learn about the latest advances in science and makes available to citizens the topics and issues that interest and concern them.
This Europe-wide public event showcases the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives in an inspiring way. ZERO HUNGER is developed as part of the Advanced Materials & Innovative Recycling (AMIR) Master’s program with an international collaboration of two universities of the Circular EELISA Community within the framework of the EELISA European University Alliance: İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi (ITU) from Türkiye and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) from Spain.
Hosted by experts in sustainability and food management, this workshop aims to educate and empower participants with practical strategies to minimize food waste in homes, businesses, and within communities. Discover insightful tips, creative approaches, and the latest technological advancements that can be implemented to tackle this global issue. Through engaging discussions and an interactive session, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the environmental, social, and economic impacts of food waste while learning how simple changes can make a significant difference. ZERO HUNGER promises a fun time of collaborative learning and research for the interested university students and professionals to be more aware of storing their food correctly and shopping wisely only the needed materials to avoid the expiration of extra food.
It is a two-hour event consisting of brief informational presentations, quizzes, and discussion sessions primarily geared towards university students from all disciplines and levels across and beyond Europe.
