EEDays: AI in Medicine Scientific Challenge, A Deep Dive into Privacy, Explainability, and Trustworthiness
The IEEE BHI’24 Scientific Challenge Final Phase will be held from November 10-13, 2024, at the IEEE-EMBS International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics in Houston, TX, USA.
This competition offers researchers, students, and AI enthusiasts a platform to delve into the forefront of healthcare-focused artificial intelligence, with two exciting tracks aimed at fostering advancements in synthetic data generation and explainable AI.
Participants will engage in two tracks. The first track, “Exploring Synthetic Data Generation”, introduces participants to the dynamic field of synthetic data, essential for privacy and innovation in AI research. Competitors will receive a codebook and synthetic data from 100 patients, showcasing varied physical activity data collected through wearable devices. Their task is to generate new synthetic datasets based on this initial dataset, contributing anonymized data solutions that support behavioral health research.
The second track, “Enhancing Explainability and Trustworthiness of AI Healthcare Models,” focuses on the use of advanced explainability tools for a multimodal AI model designed to predict glucose levels. With access to a public dataset, participants will create their own databases and interact with the AI model through a user-friendly API. Using this API, participants will make predictions based on custom datasets, exploring the AI’s decision-making processes in a comprehensive user manual. The objective of this track is to apply interpretability and explainability techniques to examine the model’s predictions, ensuring transparency and trustworthiness in healthcare applications. The competition encourages in-depth analysis and the development of meaningful insights through a final submission paper that articulates findings on model behavior. Join us in advancing healthcare AI and making impactful contributions to the field!
