Remote Sensing and GIS application: Land use change mapping in the Dja river reserve, Cameroon
Cartography is essential as a starting point to guide the actions of local agents and NGOs in cooperation projects, as well as for the integration of international efforts. GIS and remote sensing technologies have become powerful tools for determining land use changes, especially in remote and vast areas. With this this workshop series, the aim is to obtain land use change maps to support international cooperation projects using GIS and remote sensing techniques in Africa.
To carry it out, participants will work as a team during 3 synchronous sessions in person for UPM members or online for EELISA partners. The proposed schedule and program are:
- Environment and Work of the NGO Sogolo in Zambia.
- Basic Concepts of Remote Sensing and GIS and Their Applicability in International Cooperation Projects.
- Social and Health Issues in the Southern Region of Cameroon.
- Land Use Change Mapping (Flooding, Deforestation, Industrial Plantations…) in the Dja Reserve, Cameroon.
- Presentation of Conclusions and Completed Work
