Inclusive Metaverse Co-creation Lab
Are you interested in digital accessibility, virtual reality, and social impact? Do you want to contribute to a world without barriers? The “Inclusive Metaverse: Accessible VR Solutions for Physically Disabled Individuals” Co-creation Lab invites undergraduate, Master, and PhD students from all EELISA partner institutions to design and prototype adaptive Virtual Reality (VR) interfaces based on “Universal Design” principles.
Following the Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) framework, this student-led initiative aims to eliminate digital accessibility barriers for individuals with physical disabilities while addressing UN SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). In this context, students will collaborate in specialized topic-related working groups
1. 3D Hardware Design: Ergonomic 3D modeling and physical prototyping of adaptive controllers.
2. Sensor & Interface Engineering: Integration of eye-tracking, cameras, and motion sensors.
3. Software & Systems Development: Coding the metaverse environment and developing fluid motion algorithms.
4. Strategy & Inclusion Policy: Drafting a Manifesto for Inclusivity evaluating ethical and social sustainability.
Programme Structure
– Phase 1: Online Pre-Study (August 2026): A 1-month online preparatory phase on MS Teams/EELISA Digital Campus to align on technical requirements, undergo foundational training, and form cross-campus networks.
– Phase 2: Technical Co-creation (8-11 September 2026): A 4-day intensive, hands-on prototyping and strategy phase at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Maslak Campus, Türkiye.
Who Can Apply?
This activity is open to all undergraduate, Master, and PhD students across all disciplines from EELISA partner universities. No prior technical or coding knowledge is required! We value your passion, interest, and motivation over technical background. Disciplinary diversity is highly encouraged.
