Have you ever wonder why video games are so motivating and engaging and many other software products are not? FAUs’ online Master course “Designing Gamified Systems” opens the doors to an innovative learning experience focused on how games work and what we can learn from them to design motivating and engaging digital products.
Gamification implements game elements, mechanics, and design techniques to non-game environments – such as business, social development, learning systems, and many other. From marketing to education, sports, software engineering, mobility or logistics: Numerous examples demonstrate that using game design features can positively affect motivations, experiences and can even change behaviors.
During this course, participants will learn the basic terms and concepts and will design their own methods for engineering gamified systems and conducting gamification projects. They will have the chance to put their newly gained skills into practice by creating a prototype of a gamified information system – so by the end of the course, they will have a new project in their portfolios.
Moreover, to ensure practical relevance as well as academic rigor, the course will be accompanied by Mercedes-Benz as industry partner and the Gamification Group as one of the largest research groups in this area.
EELISA students are more than welcome to join and work in international teams from all over Europe. This international cooperative learning of designing gamified systems will boost engineering innovation in the further development of industries, infrastructures, sustainable cities and communities.
This course is aimed at all students who enjoy working with software design, user experience, prototyping, or software engineering. Creativity and profound English skills are required to make your teamwork easy, productive and enjoyable.
