- Associated member Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (KNU) will be participating in the Governing Board meeting for the first time since its participation in the alliance.
This is the first on-iste comprehensive meeting hosted by FAU and marks a pivotal step in EELISA‘s journey as the inaugural Governing Board meeting following the commencement of the EELISA 2.0 roll-out phase. “We are pleased to welcome our colleagues and friends from all the EELISA partner universities here at FAU for the EELISA Grand Meeting,” says FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger, who takes over the Chair of the EELISA Governing Board from May to November 2024.
During the sessions, the Board will adhere to the roadmap and action plan designed to meet the s prioritiAlliance’es and timeline. Another goal will be to solidify the commitment of all Rectors, Presidents, and Directors, ensuring their support for transitioning the Alliance from a project-based framework to a sustainable, long-term cooperative entity. Informative sessions highlighting significant progress and showcasing the diverse portfolio of projects within the Alliance will be interwoven with engaging discussions, aimed at adopting critical decisions to shape the future of EELISA.

This will enable us to create an even bigger impact on the European level”, shares Prof. Dr. Hornegger, underscoring FAU’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation within the alliance.
For the first time, associated member Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (KNU) is participating in an EELISA Grand Meeting, too. The Rector Volodymyr A. Bugrov and Vice Rector Kseniia Smyrnova will introduce KNU and highlight KNU’s visions for their future EELISA contribution and participation. In 2022, following the conflict in Ukraine, EELISA member FAU and KNU formed a strategic alliance, establishing a bridge between the entire EELISA Alliance and KNU—a partnership brimming with new opportunities for all stakeholders.
Along with the top-level discussions, this comprehensive meeting will also provide avenues for grassroots engagement. On Wednesday 22 May, workshops led by trainers from Siemens and FAU will provide input to EELISA WP Leaders and Student Council on international project management with a special focus on the intercultural component. This will be followed the next morning by a hands-on session on the EELISA Communication Strategy – enabling WP Leaders and Student Council to spread their EELISA messages and increase the network of EELISA voices.
With a multitude of innovative ideas, groundbreaking projects, and strategic partnerships already in motion, the future of EELISA gleams with boundless potential. An example of deep commitment that will be channeled into crafting a future where passion, innovation, and seamless collaboration merge.
