Following the success of the first edition, the EELISA Joint Pedagogical Support Programme (JPSP) returns, with a new batch of programmes designed to foster innovative teaching, support faculty development, and enhance student learning through collaborative and cutting-edge methodologies.
This initiative is part of the efforts carried out by the EELISA Innovative Teaching and Learning Hubs working group, aiming to integrate technology while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, to serve as a catalyst for educational transformation among EELISA institutions.
If you are a teacher affiliated with an EELISA institution and are interested in enhancing your teaching practice, you can join this second cycle of training events, available from February to April. All training opportunities are accessible remotely. Please note that enrolment is limited for some training, and selection will be based on specific criteria set by the organiser. Successful completion of any training will be recognised through EELISA Credentials.

This programme aims to introduce educators to the purpose, value, and practical use of digital badges and certificates, demonstrating how these tools can improve learner motivation, recognise soft skills, document achievements, and increase visibility through BME’s DcP platform (also used in EELISA), while equipping participants with hands-on skills to design and issue badges in Moodle.
Participants will
- Understand why digital badges and micro-credentials are becoming essential tools in modern higher education and lifelong learning.
- Explore how badges support learner engagement, transparent assessment, and recognition of both academic and soft skills.
- Learn the principles of badge design, metadata structuring, and criteria-setting.
- Gain practical experience in issuing badges in Moodle and showcasing them in DcP, BME’s own credential display platform.
By the end of the module, participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose, benefits, and educational value of digital badges and digital certificates.
- Identify meaningful use cases for badges in university teaching, including motivation, assessment, and recognition of skills and participation.
- Design a pedagogically aligned badge, including metadata, visual elements, and issuing criteria.
- Create and issue badges in Moodle using automated and manual workflows.
- Upload and display badges in DcP, ensuring visibility and shareability within BME and EELISA environments.
Participants who complete the practical assignment receive:
- A digital badge of basic competence in digital badge creation
- 6 CPD points within BME’s internal teacher training system
- The option to upload their badge and certificate to DcP
