With the beginning of a new year and an exciting Phase 2 ahead for EELISA, it becomes imperative for all its members to converge and chart out fresh roadmaps for the years to come. To envision EELISA’s Communication opportunities and challenges, on the 19th and 20th of February 2024, all members of EELISA’s WP3 (Communication, Dissemination & Branding) met at UPM’s School of Mines and Energy, in Madrid. This meeting served as a platform for information exchange, collaboration and alignment, laying the groundwork for enhanced team coordination.
Students’ perspectives are the key to shaping a learning experience, and their insights and concerns offer invaluable input for shaping our future steps. As part of this compromise, EELISA Student Council Representative Sonia Maer took part in WP3’s meeting. Read below about her experience:
My name is Sonia, and for a few months now, I’ve had the joy and responsibility of being the student representative of NUST POLITEHNICA Bucharest within the EELISA Student Council. Being currently a student representative of the faculty, and respectively the university where I study, I consider it greatly assists me in all the actions I wish to accomplish together with my new team colleagues.
When I chose to work more in WP3, I felt that it was the place where I fit best, considering that communication and marketing are extremely important aspects of today’s society. The environment I stepped into during the two-day meeting in Madrid, where I had the chance to participate, was a new one but extremely challenging. We had the opportunity to discuss in the highly intense sessions topics such as the visibility of the alliance within partner universities and the public space, the role of students in the alliance’s development, the promotion of internal events open to the entire community, the creation of an identity, and various things that we wish to implement in the near future.
For me, this meeting was the boost I needed to find the courage to express my ideas and start putting them into practice. Alongside my colleagues in the Student Council, we are preparing many surprises for the students in this alliance, and I am eager to share them with you soon. Representing students in an international context has been one of my goals during my student years, and I am grateful that EELISA offers me the chance to show as many people as possible this beautiful opportunity.
In the future, I look forward to further engaging with the EELISA community and contributing to the enhancement of student participation. The exchange of practices in volunteering and student activities represents a key aspect that I am eager to implement. By collaborating with my fellow student representatives and leveraging our diverse perspectives, I believe we can make a significant impact on the development and success of EELISA. Together, we can create a vibrant and inclusive environment where students can thrive and contribute to shaping the future of our universities and society at large.
