Promoting gender equality and diversity is one of EELISA’s core commitments and a shared responsibility across higher education institutions. Addressing these challenges requires ongoing dialogue, collective reflection, and concrete action. But how are gender equality and diversity approached across EELISA institutions? And how do local initiatives contribute to broader European objectives? As everyday efforts continue to shape this path, the Alliance will, for the fifth consecutive year, organise the 5th EELISA Roundtable to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
In this public roundtable, titled “From Local Action to the European Level: Advancing Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion through Grassroots Initiatives in EELISA”, members of the EELISA Gender Equality and Diversity Workgroup will share insights into their activities and key achievements in promoting equality and diversity in higher education across Europe and beyond. They will be followed by guest speakers from EELISA institutions’ diversity offices, who will discuss their real-world experiences—from challenges to successful initiatives—and illustrate how the European dimension of alliances like EELISA are impacting their efforts.
By joining this roundtable, participants will gain both a strategic understanding of EELISA’s gender equality and diversity framework and practical, experience-based insights that can be applied within their own institutions. By bringing together institutional perspectives from across the Alliance, the session aims to inspire action, foster knowledge exchange, and strengthen a shared European commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in higher education.
