During the 12th and 13th of December, the members of the EELISA Academic & Scientific Board met at the Politehnica University of Bucarest to discuss key strategic goals of the Alliance as well as priorities for Phase 2.
We have explored ways to reinforce engineering, sciences and technologies education while embracing social sciences and humanities to tackle societal challenges, particularly the ongoing ecological and digital transitions. We also debated on how to contribute to the transformation of education and training towards challenge-based learning and how to develop effective tools to foster excellence in research-innovation while reinforcing the relationship with the industry in connection with the future trends and perspectives of the global and European job markets.
These enriching sessions, complemented by brainstorming exercises and small groups discussions, have paved the way to identify and implement key steps towards the achievement of EELISA’s strategic goals such as the development and implementation of a portfolio of courses and joint programmes at Bachelor, Master, Doctoral levels with a strong interdisciplinary focus in their content.
Through the EELISA Communities and the future EELISA Living Labs, these programmes will be complemented with a flexible choice of courses, modules and pedagogical activities that will allow students to acquire a very valuable experience in the resolution of challenges while working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
And as a very important first step, the new EELISA Course Catalogue has been presented in Bucarest during the meeting. This is a live document that presents more than 200 courses for different academic levels, lengths and formats covering a wide spectrum of areas such as health, biology, culture creativity, business management, energy, climate, environment, languages or innovation entrepreneurship. This new catalogue of courses offered by EELISA partners is now accessible on the EELISA website and is expected to multiply the physical and remote mobility of EELISA students. This is the best way to ensure our students enjoy a wide range of mobility options and learning experiences while helping EELISA become a model in education & research, gender equality, and diversity – a model that contributes to a more resilient and inclusive Europe.
