A Wide-range of Events for Every Interest
EELISA Days 2024 presented a remarkable array of events that appealed to diverse interests and disciplines.
Among the highlights was a compelling lecture at BME, “Synergy of Engineering and Business: The Disruptive Transformation of the Truck Industry,“ which provided a deep dive into industry innovation. ENPC hosted the 2024 THNS Forum, a specialized event bringing together academics, policy makers and business representatives to discuss on the development of high-quality transport solutions. ITU’s EELISA Café offered a insightful setting for discussing Open Science.
Adding a creative dimension, the Letteratura al micrófono series offered by SNS featured multidisciplinary sessions blending education and art, with theater companies commemorating the 100th anniversary of radio. Practical learning opportunities included a workshop by the EELISA Water in Era of Change Community on Geohydrological Risk Management, addressing critical environmental issues. And ZHAW infused festive energy into the program with its delightful EELISA Days’ Chocolate Campaign.

Traditional activities also played a significant role this year. SSSA’s JEBE Business Game gathered students with business leaders in dynamic simulations, while FAU’s EELISA Pub Quiz, now in its fourth edition, brought together over 20 teams of students for an engaging competition.
New initiatives also enriched the programme, including open sessions designed to introduce EELISA to new audiences. BME’s Open Day successfully engaged high school students, offering them an inspiring introduction to STEM careers and the EELISA Alliance. Meanwhile, events like UPM’s Welcome Day and ITU’s EELISA Students Meet & Greet focused on boosting outreach among university students within their institutions, strengthening their connection to the Alliance and its opportunities.

From Integrating into Long-established Events to Creating New Ones.
For yet another year, EELISA Days successfully merged with long-standing events hosted by member institutions while also fostering new initiatives. Standout examples include POLITEHNICA of Bucharest’s RoboFest, a celebrated tradition in robotics and innovation, and UPM’s Blind Football Tournament, a variation of football that aims to spark solidarity and inclusivity within campuses.
Additionally, EELISA Days is becoming the perfect context for new strategic initiatives such as PSL’s internal call for funding targeting academics and flagship events like the EELISA Governance Meetings and the EELISA International Mobility Fair, which are further strengthening the collaborative framework of the Alliance.

A Celebration of the EELISA Spirit
Honoring the founding vision of EELISA Days to commemorate the birth date of Elisa L. Zamfirescu and the International Week of Science & Peace, EELISA Days 2024 underscored the vibrancy and diversity of its pan-European community. From fostering dialogue on critical topics to celebrating tradition and welcoming new participants, each activity reflected the shared commitment to education, innovation, and collaboration that is the hallmark of EELISA.
In the words of Sofia D’Aguiar, EELISA Executive Director, “As the curtain falls on another successful year, it’s clear that EELISA Days are not just events—they are milestones in building a dynamic, inclusive, and interdisciplinary future!”
