March is a month to honor the ongoing struggle for gender equality and celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also serves as a powerful call to action to end gender-based discrimination and violence, reinforcing the need for collective commitment and meaningful change.
In this context, EELISA reaffirms its commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive academic environment free from any kind of violence and all forms of discrimination.
The EELISA Guidelines to prevent Gender-based and Sexual Violence (GBSV), developed by the EELISA Gender Equality and Diversity Workgroup, provide a step-by-step framework to measure, implement, and strengthen institutional policies. Inspired by best practices across EELISA institutions, these guidelines turn principles into action—ensuring those affected have access to support, those responsible for harm are held accountable, and awareness leads to lasting cultural change. They also offer a network of contact points to assist those impacted and provide essential information.
By 2027, all members will work towards higher standards of protection and equity, with clear, measurable steps for continuous progress. We call on our community to engage, educate, and advocate—because safety and respect should be a reality for all.
Together, we shape universities where dignity, equality, and justice are the norm.
