Would you like to set your ideas into motion? The 8th EELISA Joint Call for EELISA Communities provides funding to turn ideas into joint, inter-institutional activities across the Alliance.
With a total budget of €200,000, both current and new EELISA Communities can apply for funding to develop interdisciplinary and transformative higher education initiatives, using innovative approaches to address complex societal challenges linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
From hackathons and lecture series to contests and other events, your idea could receive up to €12,000 in funding. Projects should focus on challenge-based learning and transformative, innovative methods that bring EELISA partners together to create meaningful solutions to real-world societal challenges.
The 8th EELISA Joint Call
This edition of the Joint Call focuses on two main topics, with a strong emphasis on developing sustainable formats of cooperation that can continue beyond the initial funding period and attract third-party funding in the long term.
– Topic 1 focuses on educational activities that strengthen the research and innovation dimensions of EELISA, building on the priorities established in the 6th and 7th EELISA Joint Calls.
– Topic 2 aims to encourage student-led training, community building, and campus engagement, with a particular focus on initiatives emerging from student-led EELISA Communities. Proposals that give students an active role in the design, implementation, and dissemination of projects are especially welcome.
All proposals will be evaluated based on their impact, learning innovation, and feasibility. To be considered, applications must not exceed the established funding cap and include clear evaluation criteria.

Eligible activities may not start before 1 January 2027 and should be implemented before 31 August 2027.
Submission of a final report no later than 6 weeks after the conclusion of your activity is mandatory.

To facilitate partner matching, EELISA has set up a Call for Interest Form where members may post short, high-level ideas and identify potential partners prior to submitting a proposal. This tool is optional and intended solely to support networking; it is not part of the evaluation process.

It is strongly suggested that all people involved be members of the Community. Since you need contacts from 3 partner institutions, the activity lead and at least two other people should be part of the Community in question.
Yes, the issuance of badges for EELISA Credentials are required for all activities funded under Joint Calls, including student-led ones. Issuance of EELISA Credential badges is done via the EELISA Digital Campus. Guidance will be provided over the course of the implementation of the activity. Student-led activities should engage an academic to provide light supervision and verify that the learning outcomes and impact level in line with the SDGs acquired through the participation in the activity are correctly reflected in the badges.
It means that participation in the activity should be open to students from any EELISA institution. Activities can target specifically Bachelor, Master, or PhD students, and organizers can set boundaries on the student profile they’re looking for when setting up the activity to ensure success.
The 1,000 euro maximum is specifically for external people outside EELISA (e.g., inviting a professor from a non-EELISA university). There is no strict maximum for overall organizational costs, but at least 50% of the budget should go to participation costs rather than organization in case of activities with a physical mobility component.
Yes, purely online formats are possible. If the activity is online, the budget will likely be lower since there are no travel costs. Hybrid and multisite formats are also popular, combining online sessions with physical meetings.
Activities can start from June 1, 2026. Good windows for participation include end of summer, September, or January, depending on when more students can participate and the host institution’s schedule.
Yes, this is possible. Data from Community activities can be used by PhD and Master students for pilot or exploratory material, as long as ethical requirements are respected.
The same Community can ask for multiple proposals with no strict limit. However, it might be better to concentrate on one strong proposal rather than 2-3 less solid ones, as approximately 20-25 proposals are submitted and only about 10-15 can be funded for Topic 1.
Section 4 (describing activity with excellence and implementation) cannot exceed 5 pages. Proposals exceeding this limit may be disqualified or receive fewer points.
